During the tour, you will sample a selection of different rum varieties, making this experience perfect both for true connoisseurs and for those new to the world of rum.

The price is €50 per person.

On April 30, we’ll “erect” a maypole together with our guests. All guests are invited to join us for a small reception to witness this old tradition.

In Ammerland, it is part of the custom that on the night of May 1, people try to steal a maypole from a neighbor’s yard, only to return it at the end of May in exchange for a ransom in the form of (alcoholic) beverages. Until then, we want to guard our maypole and would appreciate your help.

This evening, we are delighted to welcome the Shanty Choir Oldenburg exclusively for our hotel guests.

The traditional shanties were the musical focus chosen in 1974 by several members of the Naval Association of Oldenburg in Lower Saxony, who went on to found the Shanty Choir Oldenburg. With a history spanning more than 35 years, this choir is one of the oldest and most experienced performers of maritime songs in northern Germany.

With an average of 23 singers, accompanied by accordion, rhythm guitars, bass guitar, harmonica, and banjo—as well as a cappella performances—the choir offers a wide musical range, including four-part harmonies.

Just in time for the peak of the rhododendron and azalea blooming season, the Association for the Promotion of Garden Culture invites you to an informative weekend at the Park of Gardens. At the information booth, visitors can get tips on choosing the best location, fertilizing, general care, and common diseases and pests. A selection of rhododendrons will also be available for purchase.

In Bad Zwischenahn, you’ll find two of Germany’s most beautiful and largest specialty fish shops. There you can purchase the famous Zwischenahn smoked eels, high-quality smoked salmon, and many other fish specialties—fresh daily from our in-house smokehouse.

Monthly smokehouse tours:
From February through November, you have the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes and tour the eel smokehouse on the second Thursday of every month. Afterward, you’ll have the chance to shop. A tasting (for an additional fee) can be arranged in advance at one of the restaurants.

A captivating hike in Bad Zwischenahn, on the trail of a crime!

On this special walk, we follow the trail of historic and modern criminal cases in Bad Zwischenahn. Along the way, we also get to know two local authors who have written gripping crime novels set in the town. In addition to murder and manslaughter, the tour explores other unusual crimes.

The approximately 5-kilometre route leads along the Zwischenahner Meer – keeping a safe distance from the legendary “monster catfish” – and ends at a place associated with good fortune: the Spielbank Bad Zwischenahn.

The meeting point is in front of the bell tower of St.-Johannes-Kirche.

The daylily roundabout in the Park der Gärten is a real attraction during the summer blooming season—not just for daylily enthusiasts and connoisseurs. The garden has been recognized by the American Daylily Society as both an “exemplary show garden” and a “historic garden,” and is one of the park’s special botanical highlights.

On the Whisky Hike, a tour guide will share fascinating facts about the “water of life.” You’ll also hear interesting stories about Bad Zwischenahn, including tales of the region’s former distilleries.

The tour starts at the ferry landing in the spa gardens and leads past the Ammerländer Bauernhaus local history museum through the moorland to the museum in Specken. During the hike, you’ll have the opportunity to sample various whiskies and learn more about their origins and unique characteristics.

This tour is a special experience—both for connoisseurs and for those new to the world of whisky.

At the Autumn Market in the Park der Gärten, numerous vendors will present a diverse selection of plants, fruit, culinary specialties, and floral arrangements. A large apple and fruit sale offers a fresh variety of vitamins. In addition, experienced pomologists will be on hand to share their expertise through apple variety identification: For a small fee, visitors can have their own apples identified—up to five varieties per person, with five specimens required per variety.

Another highlight is the popular apple variety exhibition featuring around 200 different varieties, showcasing the impressive diversity of regional apples.
